In this short story ” The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, the author described new technology influences a big family and gives them big changes for their life. The story circles around a family of four who live in this electronic house. The house does almost everything for them, cooking, shoe tying, and bathing. The parents also call this room “the nursery”. From here, I just feel though technology gives their more convenient life and makes many things easier, technology heals many skills to live and takes away their industry.

In the story, it is clear that there is something different between the children and parents with the other families. In the other hand, the nursery is a image of the African veldt, stocked with lions. The parents become more worried that the room maybe too violent and unpleasant for their children. When the parents move to shut down the nursery, their children lock them in the room and give their parents very real sunlight and very real lions. For the author’s attitude, I think there are advantages and disadvantages. The children solve their problem of not getting what they want. If every family lives in a room like this nursery, the human life will be awful and unbelievable. This will changes children’s thoughts and makes them become lazy.

As technology developed, the children are just depending on the machines rather than their parents. The house instead of the parents. In the future, the children will let this room replaces parents and think it is more important in their lives than their real parents. Thus, the technology has been become very important part in our lives. For examples, people always look at their phone rather than a newspaper. It is very difficult to think of how we can live without technology. With the result, I think the author wants to tell us that we are relying on technology too much and what results will be in the future. For human life, technology is developed and made by people, we should use technology in proper ways, not controlled by technology. People should have their own thoughts and feelings.
